KINECT is a motion recognition sensor technology. It was implemented by Microsoft and initially used as a peripheral of the XBOX gaming machine. Soon, the global community of developers, realized the capabilities of this device and used it in various applications. Today, Microsoft has also officially given the tools needed to develop Windows applications to leverage KINECT.
